The Rate Dropper ("we", "us") is a card payment comparison service operating in the UK. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.
What we collect
Contact details you give us (name, business name, phone, email), information about your business and how you take payments, card processing statements you upload, and technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited.
How we use it
To compare card payment providers for you, contact you about your quote, pass your details to providers you choose to hear from, improve our website and meet our legal obligations.
Statements you upload
We read the rates and fees on uploaded statements to produce your comparison. We do not collect full card numbers. Uploaded statements are stored securely.
Lawful basis
We rely on your consent when you request a quote, on legitimate interests to run and improve our service, and on legal obligation where the law requires us to keep records.
How long we keep it
Quote enquiries are kept for up to 24 months. Customer records are kept for 6 years after the relationship ends for legal and accounting purposes.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to processing or withdraw consent at any time using our contact form. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
